Currently the images lack some packages like linux-firmware and microcode_ctl, installing 'Minimal Install' group adds those and some others that are expected to be on a VM or bare metal. --allowerasing is used to remove coreutils-single and curl-minimal which conflict with their fully fledged equivalents.
